Creating Prepositinal Phrases and Analyzing Figures of Speech

Goals and Agenda for Today:
  • Review prepositional phrases and practice creating sentence with more detail through the use of prepositions
  • Show understanding of the language devices that confuse Christopher and why they might do so.

1. Follow this link to an activity on creating prepositional phrases: https://docs.google.com/a/rsu5.org/document/d/1bQvST3moNqXp1dsHbi8XzuKRFlPI7dDrZGtXKdEWl7o/edit

2. I have shared a document with you that focuses on figures of speech and how Christopher interprets these. We will be discussing this as a class.

3. Writer's Notebook:
Create a dialogue (a back and forth conversation) between two people, using at least five of these figures of speech in their conversation. (Remember to change lines whenever the speaker changes.)  Also include a rhetorical question (a question that does not require an answer).

4. Reading time

HW: Read to page 115 (chapter 149)
